SAMA awards 2023 reportedly delayed

The South African Music Awards is reportedly delayed due to financial issues. The show is said to be struggling to happen this year as it is yet to get sponsorship.

According to Sunday World, the organisers, the Recording Industry of South Africa confirmed the money issue and slammed ideas of being canned.

Poor reviews from SA musicians over the years are gradually eating away the existence of the prestigious event.

“RiSA remains determined to deliver the 29th edition of the SA Music Awards even in the most challenging financial conditions we face,” said Mofokeng, adding that the show is delayed because they are undergoing a facelift,” Sama spokesperson Lesley Mofokeng said.

“We have undergone a restructuring process that relooked our processes and repackaged the Sama. The team has been hard at work with committee meetings, vetting of entries, judging, and other behind-the-scenes work,” he added.
