“The University of Tampa Provides Financial Aid Opportunities for International Undergraduate Students”

UT offers partial academic scholarships to qualified full-time undergraduate international students with exceptional grades, SAT and TOEFL scores. These funds do not cover the full cost of attendance. For more information on costs, see the Tuition and Costs page.

International Grant for Freshmen

Award amount: $6,000 – $12,000 per year
Eligibility:

  • High school applicants
  • 3.0 or higher unweighted, cumulative GPA

International Grant for Transfer Students

Award amount: Up to $7,000 per year
Eligibility:

  • College transfer applicants
  • 3.2 or higher cumulative college GPA

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate assistantships are available each academic year to select full-time graduate students. Assistantships provide a tuition waiver for up to 12 credit hours per semester, plus a $1,500 stipend. Graduate assistants work 20 hours per week for an academic or administrative office, carry a full course load (at least 8 credit hours) and must maintain a 3.25 overall GPA. Graduate assistantships are awarded by invitation only. Many types of graduate financial assistance are specific to individual programs. Choose from the following to learn more about each program:

Part-time student employment positions are offered by some campus departments and posted on Handshake.

Alternative Loans

See the lender list for more information about a few of the many private lenders offering educational loans. Some lenders require a U.S. co-signer.

Leo S. Rowe Pan American Loan

Award amount: Up to $15,000 over college career
Interest: None
Eligible students: Nationals of a Latin American or Caribbean member state of the Organization of American States

Private Scholarships

Fulbright grants are available for international students in graduate school.

Rotary International provides international student scholarships.

Open Society Foundations offers international student scholarships for undergraduates and graduates. Many are restricted to students from specific countries.

AAUW provides fellowships for women international graduate students.

American Councils for International Education provides grants and fellowships to students from the former Soviet republics.

AMIDEAST provides grants for international students from the Middle East and North Africa.

The Institute for International Education publishes Funding for U.S. Study: A Guide for Citizens of Other Nations, which provides information on hundreds of grants and international student scholarships offered by governments, foundations and international organizations.

The Cornell University Graduate School Fellowship database contains a list of funding and international student scholarships available to graduate students.

King Faisal Foundation provides an international student scholarship program for Muslim students to undertake post-graduate studies at any U.S. university.

Philanthropic Educational Organization’s International Peace Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. and Canada. PEO’s need-based Educational Loan Fund makes loans available to qualified women.
