Baba Harare has shared an emotional message of appreciation after performing at the latest Doek and Slay event in Harare.
The popular Jiti musician, whose real name is Braveman Chizvino, thanked the festival’s founders and promoters for consistently supporting his career and connecting him with thousands of female fans.
His message followed the Harare edition of Doek and Slay, held at Glamis Arena on Sunday, 16 August 2026.
The strictly women-only event featured a star-studded line-up that included Alick Macheso, Freeman HKD, ExQ, Sha Sha, Baba Harare, Nisha TS and the Intotal Band.
Baba Harare thanks Doek and Slay promoters
Taking to his official Facebook page, Baba Harare said he wanted to publicly acknowledge the people behind the growing entertainment brand.
“I just want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to the founders and promoters of Doek and Slay,” he wrote.
According to the musician, the organisers have supported him since the event’s early days. They have repeatedly booked him and provided a platform where he can perform for some of his most loyal supporters.
Baba Harare described women as the heart of his fan base. Therefore, appearing at an event created specifically for women carries special meaning for him.
He explained that stepping onto the Doek and Slay stage and seeing women singing his songs, dancing and celebrating his music creates an unforgettable experience.
“For an artist, that kind of connection is priceless,” he said.
Women have carried Baba Harare’s music
Baba Harare’s message highlighted the important role women have played throughout his career.
While the musician has performed at numerous festivals and venues, Doek and Slay gives him direct access to a large section of the audience that has consistently supported his work.
He said the partnership had developed into something beautiful over the years. Moreover, the event has helped strengthen the relationship between his music and the women who attend.
Doek and Slay has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable women-focused entertainment experiences. The event combines live music, fashion and social interaction while encouraging women to celebrate without judgement.
The August Harare edition adopted a denim-on-denim dress code, paired with sunglasses and a doek of each attendee’s choice.
Organisers also introduced changes aimed at improving visibility and the overall experience. These included moving tents away from the front of the stage so that they would not obstruct other guests.
Doek and Slay praised for creating space for women
Baba Harare praised the brand for creating an environment where women can relax, celebrate and enjoy live entertainment together.
“Your brand has created an incredible space for women,” he wrote.
The musician added that the platform had repeatedly brought him face-to-face with people who carried and supported his music over the years.
His statement was more than a routine thank-you message. Instead, it offered a glimpse into the relationship artists can build with promoters when both sides remain committed to consistency and mutual support.
Baba Harare thanked the organisers for their trust, the performance opportunities and the welcoming atmosphere they have created for him.
“Thank you for the platform. Thank you for always making me feel at home,” he added.
He also expressed hope that the partnership would continue for many more years.
Harare event formed part of national tour
The Glamis Arena gathering formed part of Doek and Slay’s four-city August 2026 tour.
The tour began in Bulawayo on 2 August before moving to Gweru on 9 August. Harare hosted the third edition on 16 August, while Kadoma will stage the final event at The Odyssey on 23 August.
Baba Harare and Enzo Ishall are expected to headline the Kadoma finale.
The musician’s presence on both the Harare and Kadoma line-ups shows that his relationship with the brand remains strong. Furthermore, his Facebook message suggests that the partnership has become personally important to him.
For Baba Harare, Doek and Slay is not simply another booking on his performance calendar. It is a stage where he can connect with women who know his songs and have followed his musical journey.
He ended his heartfelt appreciation message with his controversial energetic phrase from the new album: “TSA TSA TSA.”
