Amy Schumer has been accused of “bullying” Nicole Kidman on social media this week after seemingly making a joke about a photo of the actor at the recent US Open.
Nicole, 56, was among the guests at the tennis tournament in New York City last week. This included her attending an event at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday. Amy, 42, had attended a match within the championships on Friday.
The comedienne shared a photo of herself seemingly shocked whilst in the crowd and referenced the actor’s union strike in the caption, writing over the weekend: “Me watching [SAG-AFTRA] actors do press at Venice.” She followed up by more recently sharing a photo of Nicole with a different caption.
Amy’s took to the platform on Monday to share a photo of Nicole from the crowd at the match. She was seen wearing a pink outfit and seemingly leaning her head against her hand. The comedian wrote in the caption: “This how human sit.”
It’s amassed more than 30,000 likes since it was uploaded and has generated more than 800 comments on the platform. Although some people found the post amusing, there was also a backlash directed towards Amy over it.
One person wrote: “Are you cyberbullying Oscar and Emmy winner Nicole Kidman [right now].” Another said: “This is just [a] bullying post for no reason, giving me the ick.” A third wrote in the comments section: “Stop bullying. Do better.”
Someone asked: “Why are you making fun of her?” Another person reacted: “You’re a woman who claims to support other women [so] why are you making fun of another woman. Knock it off.” Another person said: “Wow so mean.”
“Stop it. She can sit however she pleases,” commented a seventh person. Another follower said: “This post seems beneath you. What point are you trying to make here?” Someone wrote: “Don’t like this post. It’s not funny or nice”.
