Taylor Swift devastated as fan dies at Brazil concert

Taylor Swift has issued a heartbreaking statement after she discovered that a fan had died before her Brazil show began on Friday night. Last night the Anti-Hero singer took to the stage in Rio de Janeiro for yet another sold-out stadium show of her Eras Tour. But as soon as Taylor was off-stage, she took to Instagram to share some somber news with her followers.

Sharing a heartfelt note on her Instagram story after the show, the 33-year-old hitmaker revealed that a fan had died before the show. Writing the message, Taylor penned: “I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.

She went on to add: “My broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.”

This came as temperatures reached heights of 100 degrees in Brazil, with Taylor even visibly sweltering as she performed on-stage. The singer was even seen pausing her show last night to ensure her fans had enough water in the humid conditions.

During her performances for the Evermore era, in videos circulating social media, Taylor could be seen waving to members of staff at the venue and urging them to bring water to the crowd. In one clip the crowd can be heard chanting “water, water, water”.

One clip sees the hitmaker halting her show and saying: “There’s people that need water right here, maybe 30, 35, 40 feet back.

“So whoever is in charge of giving them that, just make sure that happens. Can I get a signal that you know where they are?”

Taylor, who is currently on the second leg of her tour, is scheduled to perform in Rio again on Saturday and Sunday night. In her statement, Taylor noted that she would not speak about the fan’s death from stage due to her being “overwhelmed by grief.”
