Three years after the tragic accident that claimed the lives of flamboyant socialite and businessman Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure, his memory continues to dominate headlines. Kadungure, known for his extravagant lifestyle and larger-than-life personality, left behind a legacy beyond his untimely death on November 8, 2020. Now, the dispute over his opulent mansion is again thrust into the public eye.
The latest chapter in the saga involves Kadungure’s sister and heir, Nelia Kadungure, who has recently found herself embroiled in a legal battle concerning the land on which Ginimbi’s mansion stands. According to reports, Nelia has been summoned to the Chief’s Court over allegations related to outstanding payments for the property.
Ginimbi reportedly purchased the land for US$13,000. However, he had only managed to pay US$4,000 before his death, leaving an unsettled balance. The original landowners, led by Dadirai Nhau, the daughter of the late Shanda Kibiti Matope who sold the land, claim that Nelia Kadungure has not fulfilled the remaining payments. Nhau asserts that she witnessed the transaction between her father and Ginimbi and is now seeking a resolution through the courts.
Complicating matters, Nelia’s absence from the court has been attributed to health issues, resulting in a postponement of the case. The landowners also faced difficulties as they misplaced the original sale’s documentary evidence. Despite this, they maintain that village head Sabhuku Kadyausavi can attest to the validity of the transaction.
The dispute highlights ongoing challenges in settling Ginimbi’s estate and underscores the complexities that often arise when high-profile figures pass away. As Nelia Kadungure navigates these legal waters, the case continues to captivate public interest, adding another layer to the enduring legacy of the late socialite.
