Security guard shoots wife dead in Bulawayo

Police are currently seeking Oscar Khumalo, a security guard suspected of fatally shooting his wife, Khangelani Nkiwane, on July 7, 2024, following a domestic dispute in their residence.

The tragic incident unfolded when Khumalo, armed with a pistol obtained from his workplace, reportedly threatened his wife’s life. In an attempt to seek refuge, Khangelani Nkiwane fled to their landlord’s bedroom. Despite the landlord’s efforts to secure the door, Khumalo forcibly entered and shot his wife in the back and hand.

Khangelani Nkiwane, aged 38, was promptly transported to Mpilo Central Hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries on July 8, 2024. Authorities have condemned the use of service firearms in such contexts and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life resulting from the husband’s actions during the altercation.

Inspector Abednico Ncube, a spokesperson for the police, has issued a public appeal, particularly urging men to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts. Oscar Khumalo remains at large, and law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to come forward to facilitate his apprehension.
