DJ Fantan raises alarm as ex-wife and kids go missing, sparks social media debate

Prominent ChillSpot producer DJ Fantan has sparked a social media storm after revealing that his ex-wife, Gamuchirai Nemukuyu, and their two young daughters have gone missing. Taking to Facebook on Thursday, 6 March, Fantan, born Arnold Kamudyariwa, expressed grave concern over their disappearance, stating that they were last seen in Mbare on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.

DJ Fantan’s post raised serious alarm, as he claimed that Gamuchirai had plans to leave Zimbabwe with their children without his consent or the necessary travel documentation. The DJ Fantan’s statement read in part: “We are desperately searching for Gamuchirai Nemukuyu (mai Fafi) and two minor children, Rufaro Kamudyariwa (6 years) and Ruvheneko Kamudyariwa (5 years), last seen Wednesday, 5 March 2025, in Mbare. Information last received is to the effect that she had plans to flee outside Zimbabwe with the children without proper travel documentation.”

The music producer further urged the public to assist in the search, providing contact numbers for himself and the children’s grandmother, Edith Katiyo. He encouraged anyone with information about their whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or reach out to him directly at 0774339360. He also provided the grandmother’s contact details: +263782009221 and +263771682805.

“We are extremely worried about the safety of all and mainly the minor children. Anyone who has information about their whereabouts, please report to any nearest police station in Zimbabwe and also contact Arnold Kamudyariwa (Father) 0774339360, Edith Katiyo (Grandma) +263782009221 or +263771682805 immediately,” he wrote.

DJ Fantan confirmed that a missing person’s report had been filed with the police, further escalating the seriousness of the situation. However, public reactions to his post were divided. While many expressed concern and hoped for the safe return of the children, others believed he was overreacting. As expected, social media users had varied opinions on the matter. Some sympathized with Fantan, understanding his distress as a concerned father, while others felt that he should have first reached out to Gamuchirai’s family before making the situation public.

One Facebook user, Aisha Tinotenda Mamu, dismissed Fantan’s concerns, suggesting that he was jumping to conclusions too quickly: “5 March ndizuro zvee. Ask her family, they will tell you the truth. Just because she didn’t inform you doesn’t mean she’s missing.” Another user, Inashe Mikiey Mangena, emphasized the importance of co-parenting and working through differences for the sake of the children:

“I hope you and your ex can find a more constructive way to resolve your differences. For the sake of your children, it’s essential to prioritize their well-being and provide a stable, loving environment. Let’s hope you both can put aside your differences and act in the best interest of your kids.”

However, others supported Fantan’s concerns and hoped for a swift resolution. They pointed out that taking children across borders without proper documentation could lead to legal repercussions and unnecessary distress for both parents and children.

DJ Fantan’s situation sheds light on the broader issue of parental disputes and custody battles in Zimbabwe. It is not uncommon for one parent to take drastic measures due to unresolved conflicts, sometimes resulting in legal battles over child custody and travel rights.

Fantan and Levels

While the DJ Fantan’s approach publicly announcing the disappearance on social medi has been met with criticism, it also highlights the desperate lengths to which parents may go when they feel their parental rights are being infringed upon.

This incident raises important questions about how co-parenting arrangements should be handled, particularly in cases where communication has broken down. Some experts suggest that such matters should be resolved through the courts or mediation rather than being played out in the public domain.

As the search for Gamuchirai and the children continues, it remains to be seen whether this will turn into a legal battle or be resolved amicably. Authorities are likely to investigate the claims made by DJ Fantan and establish whether there was indeed an attempt to leave the country without proper procedures.

For now, social media remains abuzz with speculation and debate over the issue. WhetherDJ  Fantan’s concerns are valid or an overreaction, one thing is clear this is a developing situation that requires urgent attention to ensure the safety and well-being of the children involved.
