While controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo appears to have found love again with Lucy Muteke, tensions with his ex-wife, Sonja Madzikanda, are threatening to escalate. Despite previously appearing to endorse Chivayo’s new relationship, Madzikanda has recently taken to social media to air her grievances, suggesting unresolved animosities between the former couple.
Wicknell Chivayo and Madzikanda announced their split early last year, and though the breakup seemed amicable at first, recent developments suggest otherwise. In a fiery Instagram rant, Madzikanda accused Chivayo of attempting to interfere with her personal life, while also issuing a warning that she could expose some of his darkest secrets.
“Leave my friends alone, and don’t be surprised. Remember I told you. I was like, ‘if you don’t settle with me, we gonna take this public and we gonna get Lulu and your relatives to put you under pressure to do the need for.’”
These words indicate that their breakup was far from smooth and that lingering issues still haunt their interactions. Madzikanda also suggested that Chivayo had been unwilling to accept the end of their relationship, stating that he had pleaded for months for her to return.
“Wicknell Chivayo, till this day, cannot believe that I dumped him publicly. He was begging for months. He was like, ‘Just publicly apologise and then we can go back together.’ I’m interested in you and I’ve said that enough times and you’re in shock,” she added. In December, Madzikanda appeared to support Wicknell Chivayo’s new relationship, stating that if he had genuinely changed for his new partner, people should applaud his growth.
“If he has moved on and has found love and wants to be a better guy for this chic, then to be honest with you, we should all clap hands and say well done. I am happy that he launched this because now anything to do with him in 2025 has nothing to do with me. I think that Lulu girl is absolutely beautiful, I used to bake scones for her. I am sure her and Wicknell will make a lovely couple and if it ends in marriage, good for them,” she said.
However, this apparent goodwill was short-lived as her recent online outburst suggests deep-seated resentment remains. The root cause of her latest grievances remains unclear, but it is evident that she feels wronged by her former husband.
Despite the drama surrounding his past marriage, Chivayo has demonstrated his commitment to Lucy Muteke. Over the weekend, he officially paid lobola (bride price) at her family home in Marondera, solidifying their union. This traditional step signals his seriousness about the relationship, possibly in an attempt to move forward and distance himself from his tumultuous past.
While Chivayo has remained mostly silent regarding his ex-wife’s allegations, his actions suggest a desire to start a new chapter. Whether Madzikanda’s threats to expose secrets will have any impact on him remains to be seen.
Public breakups, especially involving high-profile individuals, often come with lingering tensions. Social media has become a battleground where former partners air their grievances, and in this case, it has provided a platform for Madzikanda to voice her discontent. Her accusations, if substantiated, could shake Chivayo’s reputation further.
For now, it appears Chivayo is focused on his new relationship, but with Madzikanda’s recent statements, the possibility of more revelations cannot be ruled out. Whether this will lead to further public disputes or a quiet resolution remains a developing story. As events unfold, one thing is clear despite moving on, the past has a way of resurfacing, and in the world of high-profile relationships, drama is never far behind.
