Former Zimbabwe Warriors football star Alois Bunjira and his long-time partner, Brenda Zvinorova, had been looking forward to celebrating their wedding this December. The couple, who had been together for several years, were reportedly finalising preparations for their nuptials when tragedy struck. Brenda passed away on Monday in Harare, just three days after sustaining severe injuries in a car accident along the Rusape–Nyanga road.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, when Alois Bunjira was driving his BMW on the busy Rusape–Nyanga highway. The vehicle collided head-on with another car, resulting in the immediate deaths of two passengers in the other vehicle. Brenda, who was seated beside Bunjira, survived the initial impact but sustained critical injuries that would eventually claim her life.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the impact leaving both vehicles severely damaged. Emergency services rushed to the site to provide assistance, while police began an investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision.
Brenda was first admitted to Rusape General Hospital, where doctors stabilised her condition before transferring her to Milton Park Medical Centre in Harare for specialised care. At the Harare facility, she was placed on life support as medical personnel fought to save her life. Despite their efforts and the support of family and friends, Brenda succumbed to her injuries after three days of critical care.
Her untimely passing has left family, friends, and the sporting community in shock, as tributes poured in across social media platforms expressing sorrow over the devastating loss.
Brenda Zvinorova was more than just Alois Bunjira’s fiancée; she was an integral part of his professional and personal life. She played a significant role in several of his initiatives, most notably serving as an administrator for the NetOne Albun Marathon, a key sporting event in Zimbabwe. Photographs from past marathons show Brenda seated prominently at the top table alongside officials, highlighting her active involvement and leadership within the organising team.
