In an extraordinary act of generosity and devotion, a prominent benefactor of the Johanne Masowe Chishanu Apostolic Church has donated 10 brand-new luxury uses to support the transportation needs of worshippers ahead of the church’s highly anticipated Musangano Wegore (annual gathering) scheduled for next week.
The buses, each valued at US$195,000, bring the total donation to nearly US$2 million. The benefactor, who shared the development on social media under the heading “Hallo Friday”, described the gesture as his small way of easing the burden of travel for congregants who often commute long distances to attend church events.
“This past week, I purchased a total of 10 brand new luxury buses for our church, Johanne Masowe Chishanu. This is my small way of contributing towards easing the burden of transporting my fellow church members to and from our places of worship, especially as we prepare for Musangano Wegore next week,” he wrote.
He further revealed his ambition to continue growing the fleet, pledging to acquire another 10 buses by December 2025 and an additional 10 by April 2026, as part of a long-term vision to strengthen the logistical capacity of the church.
Founded in 1931 by Baba Johanne, Johanne Masowe Chishanu stands today as one of Zimbabwe’s largest indigenous churches, boasting a membership of more than three million across the world. The church has a rich history rooted in African spirituality, with a mission centred on prayer, unity, humility, and compassion.
Each of the new buses is adorned with the image of Mutumwa Baba Johanne, the spiritual founder, serving as a constant reminder of his enduring influence and prophetic message.
“Johanne Masowe Chishanu is not just a church; it is a way of life that has changed my life and the lives of millions worldwide. Each bus proudly carries the face of Baba Johanne, reminding us of our spiritual leader whose spirit is still alive among us,” the benefactor wrote.
The donor reflected on the church’s prophecy, which foretold that a young man would rise in future generations to bless the congregation in ways never seen before. He expressed gratitude for being chosen by God and the Holy Spirit to be part of fulfilling that vision.

“With all humility, I thank God for choosing me to be one of those who recognize the importance of the church and the need to support its growth. I will never stop, I will never tire, for this is the anointing and spiritual obligation placed upon me by the Holy Spirit,” he affirmed.
He emphasized that Johanne Masowe Chishanu’s strength lies not in material wealth but in compassion, fellowship, humility, and prayer, values that continue to bind millions of followers together.
In preparation for the annual gathering, the 10 buses will be distributed to various church branches. The official handover will take place on Sunday at 9:00 AM at the Gwanzura branch in Highfield.
The following branches have been allocated buses:
Coca Cola – 1 bus
Domboshava (Chirowodza, Nyakudya & Templekadhai) – 3 buses
Chiweshe Chinhevere – 1 bus
Warren Park – 1 bus
Rashanu Dande – 1 bus
Negomo Rushanga – 1 bus
Highfields Gwanzura – 1 bus
Chitungwiza Velvet – 1 bus
The benefactor stressed that the vehicles are strictly for official church use. They are to transport members to church programs and gatherings, not for commercial hire, resale, or personal purposes.
The Musangano Wegore, a five-day annual spiritual convocation, is one of the most important events on the Johanne Masowe Chishanu calendar. It attracts thousands of congregants from across Zimbabwe and beyond, who gather for prayer, worship, and fellowship.
This year’s gathering, running from Wednesday to Sunday next week, is expected to be one of the largest in recent history, with preparations already underway at various branches. The availability of additional buses will significantly ease transport challenges for members, ensuring higher participation in the event.
Closing his message, the benefactor called upon congregants to embrace the donation as a blessing and a sign of God’s continued favour upon the church.
“Madzibaba ne Madzimai, tambirai makomborero auya na Baba,” he wrote, echoing the collective joy of a community bound by faith and gratitude.
The donation stands as a powerful symbol of faith in action, reminding the church’s millions of followers that humility, unity, and service remain at the core of Johanne Masowe Chishanu’s enduring mission.
