A Pumula man in Bulawayo woke up to a devastating shock on Monday morning after discovering the lifeless body of his wife near a residential property in Old Pumula, just hours after she had gone out for a night of drinking. The woman, identified as 34-year-old Sibonile Beval Ngwenya, had reportedly spent the previous evening at a local sports bar before failing to return home.

According to Acting Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, the grim discovery was made early on Monday when a neighbour alerted Ngwenya’s husband about a body lying near a nearby house. “At around 6:30AM on 11 November 2025, the husband was informed by a neighbour that there was a body near a certain house which looked like that of his wife. They proceeded to the scene and upon arrival, he positively identified the deceased as his wife,” she said.

Police officers who responded to the scene noted disturbing details suggesting foul play. Broken beer bottles were scattered across the ground, and signs of a struggle were evident. The victim’s body also bore multiple cuts, indicating that she had endured a violent attack before her death. Assistant Inspector Ndlovu confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
