Rapper 2 Chainz said he is counting his “blessings” after being released from hospital following a terrifying car crash. On Monday night, the musician, real name Tauheed K. Epps, took to Instagram to update his fans and assured them he was fine. In the early hours of Saturday morning, 46-year-old 2 Chainz was involved in a scary smash while driving in Miami.
The father-of-three was on Interstate 95 when his vehicle was hit from behind, resulting in him being whisked to the hospital with “neck injuries and possibly other injuries”. The crash has been described as “intense”.
He was cleared of any wrongdoing in the collision, with a source telling TMZ that police suspect another driver was under the influence. Taking to his socials, 2 Chainz posted a photograph of a totaled car and shared that he is grateful he escaped relatively unscathed.
“This [is] the car that hit us from behind… Praise God for the blessings. Things could have been worse, but it wasn’t,” he began. “Don’t wanna pity party, but I do appreciate every single person that checks up on me. Sometimes someone in my position doesn’t feel like the love is real or maybe it’s a mind thing. But I truly felt the love and don’t worry ‘bout me. I’m good, shake back King.”
Hitmaker 2 Chainz, best known for his tracks We Own It, Bugatti and Beez in the Trap, featuring Nicki Minaj, received several well wishes from his pals. Usher wrote: “Glad to see you’re good, man,” while actor Marlon Wayans said: “Heal up bro. Glad you’re good.” Busta Rhymes added: “Tremendously grateful for your safety king,” and DJ Paul K.O.M exclaimed: “This blew my mind ‘cause I was with u celebrating right before it happened.”
At the time of the crash, 2 Chainz posted to his Instagram Story, sharing footage of himself sitting in the back of an ambulance with a black strap around each foot. A black car could also be seen, with extensive damage to the driver’s side. According to TMZ, he was examined by doctors and released from the hospital hours after the incident – he was “a bit banged up” but didn’t suffer any major injuries.
A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles told The Mirror: “We can confirm that there was a crash involving three vehicles that occurred near the intersection of SR 112-WB and NW 22nd Ave in Miami. The vehicles involved were a 2016 Mercedes, a 2013 Nissan, and a 2010 Toyota. There were no fatalities and at least one adult male was transported to an area hospital.”
