A local publication reports that Babes Wodumo is allegedly drowning in debt following the passing of her husband Mampintsha Shimora Maphumulo.
Sources close to the singer told Zimoja that Babes Wodumo allowed her family to move in with her in the home she and Shimora shared. This was a way to cut costs and save as she is apparently the breadwinner.
The friend even alleged that Mampintsha left Babes in a lot of debt, but luckily they own the home.
“He has left her in a lot of debt. Luckily, they own the house, but the debt has accumulated,” the friend said as quoted by the blog.
Another source claims Babes is left wondering what Shimora did with their finances as he handled everything, “He was managing all the finances of the business and household. These people met when Babes was very young, he has always been guiding her and taking care of the money. But she now has to manage everything on her own. She is in serious debt.”
“There was a time when they almost lost the house, but it was paid off. But she will recover because shooting Life After Mampintsha, season of their reality show with Showmax. But for now, things are rough and she is taking as many bookings as possible.”
Babes sister and manager, Nondumiso Simelane responded by saying, “Who doesn’t have debt bandla. Babes will be fine. She will share her story when she is ready.”
Babes recently opened up about spending Valentine’s Day without Mampintsha. “Wow after sooo many years this is the first Valentines Day without you sthandwa Sam… Today woman out there are celebrating with loved ones, but however me being here today makes it different from others…I forever cherish days we shared together..Ngyazi ujabulile ukungbona today nginawe Sdudla Sam,Sdikselwa,Stakataka,Baba ka Sponge,” she captioned the post.
Even Makhadzi sympathized with her and sent her love.
This comes after their public fallout where Babes decided to pull a publicity stunt using Makhadzi.
“Imagine my boyfriend hearing that I am trending for another man! . Just Because someone wants to pull a stunt by mentioning my name. But I forgave her already. And also replied to satisfy her. Good bye. Khavhavhasale vhatshiamba zwine vhafuna nne ndidovha ndikha fb namus,” she wrote.
