United States-based Zimbabwean actress Danai Gurira will get a spin-off series based on her character in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”.
The award-winning star, who played ‘Okoye’ in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ an adventure movie released last year, previously hinted that there may be a spin-off series based on her character in the global sensation.
The series, titled ‘Okoye’, produced by television company Marvel Studios, will be shown on American streaming service Disney Plus.
Danai Gurira spoke of the spin-off show recently.
In the movie, Okoye served the Black Panther as a personal bodyguard and the nation of Wakanda as a torchbearer of tradition and virtue. Okoye was as deadly as she was wise, and stood as one of T’Challa’s most trusted allies and companionsThe former Dominican Convent High School student rose to fame in 2004, when she starred in a drama series called Law and Order.
In 2018, the same year she last visited Zimbabwe for a poaching awareness campaign, Gurira was appointed United Nations Women Godwill Ambassador.
