Popular comedian and social media entertainer Admire Takudzwa Mushambi, better known by his stage name Mama Vee, has found himself on the wrong side of the law after a Harare magistrate issued a warrant for his immediate arrest. The warrant was granted following his failure to appear in court to give crucial testimony in the high-profile E-Creator Ponzi scheme case — a scandal that has shaken Zimbabwe’s entertainment and financial circles.
Mama Vee had been listed as a key witness expected to shed light on how the fraudulent online investment platform managed to rope in hundreds of unsuspecting citizens, including celebrities and ordinary investors. The alleged scam, which authorities say defrauded people of more than US$300,000, left a long trail of financial destruction across the country.
When proceedings resumed this week at the Harare Magistrates Court, Mama Vee was nowhere to be found. His unexplained absence forced Regional Magistrate Francis Mapfumo to take immediate action. Visibly displeased, the magistrate declared that no one — regardless of fame or influence — was above the authority of the court.
“The court will not tolerate the disregard of its processes,” Magistrate Mapfumo stated sternly. “A warrant of arrest has been issued for the witness to ensure he answers the call of justice.”
With those words, the comedian — once viewed as a cooperative witness — suddenly became a wanted person. The ruling has sent shockwaves through both the legal and entertainment communities, where Mama Vee enjoys a massive following for his humorous skits and viral online content.
However, the hearing was not entirely derailed by his absence. Fellow social media celebrity Tarisai Cleopatra Munetsiva, popularly known as Madam Boss, took the witness stand and delivered bombshell testimony that placed Mama Vee squarely at the centre of the E-Creator promotional network.
According to Madam Boss, her introduction to the now-discredited investment platform came directly through Mama Vee. She told the court that the comedian personally linked her to representatives of E-Creator, who sought to leverage her massive online reach to market their services.
“Mama Vee was the one who introduced me to the people behind E-Creator,” she testified. “They wanted me to create an advert for them to post on my Facebook page, and I was paid for that service.”
Her revelation placed Mama Vee in a compromising position — as a bridge between the alleged fraudsters and influential entertainers whose endorsements helped legitimize the scheme in the eyes of the public. Through social media promotions by trusted figures, E-Creator gained rapid credibility, attracting thousands of new investors who later lost their money when the platform abruptly collapsed.
Comedian Mama Vee Faces Arrest After Skipping Court
Madam Boss went on to explain how her professional engagement with the company quickly turned personal. After completing the paid promotion, she decided to invest her own money in the scheme, believing it to be genuine. Her confidence was so high that she persuaded those closest to her to follow suit.
“I also encouraged my husband and my relatives to participate in the programme,” she said. “We all thought it was a good opportunity.”
Her statement illustrates how deeply the scam infiltrated Zimbabwe’s entertainment scene, weaponizing celebrity trust to lure fans and families into financial ruin. What began as simple paid advertising became a web of misplaced trust and unforeseen consequences, leaving many victims feeling betrayed by the very personalities they admired.
As of now, Mama Vee’s location remains a mystery. Law enforcement officers have been instructed to track him down and present him before the court to explain his absence and his alleged role in connecting E-Creator with other public figures. Sources close to the investigation say the authorities are treating the matter with urgency, given the public interest surrounding the case and the sums of money involved.
Legal experts have noted that while Mama Vee is not formally charged with any crime, failing to appear in court as a summoned witness constitutes a serious offence that can carry further consequences. If found to have willfully evaded the proceedings, he could face contempt charges in addition to the existing warrant of arrest.
Meanwhile, the E-Creator scandal continues to unravel, exposing the dark underbelly of influencer marketing and online investment fraud in Zimbabwe. Many victims have expressed anger over how easily trusted entertainers appeared to validate what turned out to be a pyramid-style operation.
For now, the once-beloved comedian’s reputation hangs in the balance. Once celebrated for his comedic timing and relatable humour, Mama Vee’s name is now associated with one of the most infamous financial scandals in recent memory.
As the manhunt for his whereabouts intensifies, all eyes are on the Harare Magistrates Court, where the next session is expected to determine whether the star will be brought in to testify — or face the full weight of the law for skipping court.
