Nicki Minaj faces new lawsuit over rental jewelry damages

Nicki Minaj‘s legal woes seem to keep piling up, with the Pinkprint rapper now being hit with a lawsuit from a West Hollywood jeweler over some alleged jewelry damage.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the jeweler claims that after he loaned out some jewelry to Minaj, several of the pieces came back damaged. The lawsuit claims that Nicki’s stylist Brett Alan Nelson entered into a contract with the Roseark jewelry store to loan the rapper some jewelry for a public appearance.

Per the court documents, the store claims Nelson had been informed about the possibility of incurring fees if the jewelry is damaged under his watch.

The jeweler claims that Nelson failed to return 66 pieces of jewelry by the agreed-upon deadline, and when he did finally return, there had been noticeable damage to a set of earrings and a leaf ring.

The stylist had apparently also been sent invoices regarding the damage — which totaled around $26,239.50 plus interest — but didn’t appear to respond.

This was enough for Roseark jewelry store to move forward with suing both Nicki and her stylist. However, Minaj’s attorneys disagree and declare not only is she not responsible but that the jeweler is just using her for publicity.

A source close to the situation told TMZ that “everything was returned on time as promised,” and issues were only raised after the alleged “damaged” items had been back in the jeweler’s possession for some time.

“We have not been presented with any evidence that any of the jewelry at issue was damaged by Nicki,” her attorney, Jordan Siev, told TMZ. “This lawsuit appears to be nothing more than an ordinary insurance claim by the jeweler designed to generate publicity for itself and extract a payment to which it is not entitled. We will defend the lawsuit vigorously.”This isn’t the only pending legal situation Minaj is facing. The rapper is currently embroiled in a $75,000 lawsuit against a blogger who claimed she was a “cokehead.”

Her husband, Kenneth Petty, is also facing his own legal troubles. After allegedly refusing to obey a judge’s order to settle his sexual assault lawsuit by Jennifer Hough; his alleged victim is demanding a legal intervention.

Court documents obtained by HipHopDX reveal that despite the previous demands of Judge James R. Cho for both parties to reach a settlement, Petty has reportedly refused to cooperate. As a result, Hough — through her attorney, Tyrone Blackburn — has demanded a scheduling order.

“We are counsel to Plaintiff Jennifer Hough in the above-referenced matter. I write jointly with counsel for Defendant Kenneth Petty,” Mr. Blackburn wrote in his letter to Judge Cho. “As you know, the Court provided the parties with an opportunity to engage in private mediation. The parties participated in private mediation, but unfortunately, we were unable to reach a settlement. We would like to have a scheduling conference with the court to set a scheduling order.”

Tiffany & Co. invited me to the Beyonce Renaissance concert on Saturday in London, and I was blown away, by not only Beyonce’s vocals, and the outfit changes (my favourite part), but also the high level production, and the guest appearance from Blu Ivy, whose confidence has grown on stage since the first time I saw her performance via Twitter a few weeks ago.

What I noticed from being at the concert is that the first look always changes. The first segment of the show is where the melodic, ballad-style songs are performed, which is where Beyonce will wear a gown. Read more
