With the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage fast approaching, it has been revealed just how long it will take for players to beat the game. Assassin’s Creed Mirage promises a return to the series’ roots, and if these playtimes are to be believed, then it seems Ubisoft might just deliver on that.
Since 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins, the series has struggled to satisfy every single player at once. The release marked a move to an RPG focus for the franchise, as it attempted to emulate the critical and commercial success of The Witcher 3. While all of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla were well-received critically, they faced a common criticism – scale.
They were enormous games, each taking upward of 100 hours for casual players to complete. No one could deny that there was plenty to do in each of these titles – the debate centered around how much of it was actually of any substance. For many, any steps toward quality over quantity were a positive development.
The news comes from French YouTuber Julien Chieze, who hosted an interview with the Lead Producer of the game at Ubisoft Bordeaux, Fabian Salomon. According to Salomon, early playtests of the game are indicating that the average player will take 20 to 24 hours to beat Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
This figure increases for completionists, who will on average spend between 25 to 30 hours with the game. This certainly feels more in line with what players could expect from the likes of Assassin’s Creed Unity and Syndicate, which were the last games to utilize the classic formula that fans are harboring so much nostalgia for.
It will be interesting to see just how true that claim is when the game finally releases later this year. Given all the features confirmed for Assassin’s Creed Mirage so far, it’s shaping up to be a real fan-favorite, with a reception to early gameplay footage remaining extremely positive from the community.
It’s a great time to be a fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Ubisoft took a step back after Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which was released back in 2020. This has allowed the company to decide on a real long-term direction for the series, and it seems ready to return with a vengeance.
It’s rumored that there are currently 11 Assassin’s Creed titles in development, meaning the hiatus will soon feel like a distant memory to those starved of their Animus fix. If Assassin’s Creed Mirage can win over fans of the old formula, it will be the perfect start out of the gates for Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set to release on October 12 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
