DDG Retires From Youtube To Focus On Rap Career

DDG has made a major career decision and chosen Hip Hop over vlogging rather than pursuing both. On Monday (July 24), the 25-year-old took to Twitter to ask his fans: “Youtube or music? I can’t do both no more.” Though the responses were mixed, with people showing support for both his crafts, the Zooted Music boss posted a video on YouTube the following day called: “My Last YouTube Video… **I deleted everything**”

As per the title, the internet personality wiped his entire video library clean despite amassing 3.24 million subscribers on his channel in the seven years since he became active as a YouTuber.

“I don’t really care about the money,” he said. “That’s kinda why I’ve been doing music without even making a lot of money doing music, it’s because I didn’t care about the money — I’m very passionate about it.”

“I was doing YouTube to eat. I was doing YouTube to pay my bills, to make money,” he further elaborated. “If you told me right now, ‘You won’t make a dollar off rapping,’ I would still do it.”

DDG recently opened up about his relationship with Halle Bailey on the song, “Famous,” and the insecurities it sometimes sparks in him. Released in mid-July, the track finds the Michigan spitter pondering on what happens between his actor girlfriend and her on-screen love interests when the cameras are off.

“I have been so insecure that I will be thinkin’ you really be fuckin’ n-ggas you in movies with,” he raps. “But on the internet, I will just be coolin’ it, but in my head, a n-gga really losin’ it/ Gotta be payin’ good ’cause you keep doin’ it, I might just tweet somethin’ just to ruin it/ I got a platform, I’m abusin’ it.”

He continues: “It’s a couple of things about your job I wanna know/ When you shoot your movie, do these n-ggas turn you on?/ When you leave the set, do y’all still text each other phone?/ Just because they filmin’ it, it doesn’t mean that it ain’t wrong.”

The pair have certainly had their share of ups and downs. Back in February, DDG indicated there was trouble in paradise when he posted a since-deleted tweet that hinted something may be wrong in his romance with the Little Mermaid star.

The post read: “All these girls the same ain’t no wayy” along with a crying face emoji.

It didn’t take long for fans to notice DDG had wiped his Instagram clean of any photos with Bailey, as well as the fact that they were no longer following each other on the social media platform.
