Rapper Lil Tay has passed away aged 15, along with her brother, as confirmed by the sibling’s family members. The controversial social media influencer rose to fame in 2018, when she boasted about her wealth and frequently used expletives at a young age.
Taking to Instagram, her family wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the devastating news of our beloved Claire’s sudden and tragic passing. We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribable pain.”
They added: “This outcome was entirely unexpected, and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief.”
The family then asked for privacy during their time of “immense sorrow” and while the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing is being investigated. They concluded with: “Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her,” the statement ended.”
The identity of Claire’s brother has yet to be revealed, as does their cause of deaths. While her age was never officially disclosed, it’s believed that Lil Tay rose to fame at the age of nine in 2017.
She was originally from Canada but moved to Los Angeles and garnered viral fame on social media after she began posting controversial videos which showed her cussing, insulting people, flashing stacks of cash and even starting fights.
Despite the critics, Lil Tay quickly amassed a huge social media following of over 3.3million people on Instagram alone, even though she hasn’t used the app in five years. But, despite the critics, she quickly racked up more than 3.3 million followers on Instagram alone.
