It’s not often that two women who’ve been in a relationship with the same man get along. However, in the case of musicians DJ Zinhle and Nadia Nakai, it’s more than just a relationship that the pair has built – they have a sisterhood.
Speaking to Sunday World about their relationship, Zinhle said that before AKA’s untimely passing, she and Nadia hardly spent time together. We were never really intentional about the relationship, but there was never really anything that we had against each other.
“We were always so cool, but we just feel we could have been cooler than we were already,” she said.AKA – who is the father of Zinhle’s first daughter, Kairo Forbes – was gunned down outside a Durban restaurant on 10 February this year. Investigation is ongoing. Nadia and the slain rapper started dating in late 2021. Speaking to L-Tido on his YouTube podcast in June this year, the Naaa Meaan rapper said that Zinhle orchestrated her first meet-up with Kairo.
Nadia told L-Tido that she had only met DJ Zinhle twice, as AKA’s girlfriend, when the Umlilo hitmaker asked when she’d be available for babysitting duties.
“We were at this Fashion Week launch and it was the second time I’d seen Zee since I started dating Kiernan. She was like, ‘When do you start babysitting? You need to start babysitting Kairo.’ Inside I was just like, ‘Okay, she seems fine with it so I told Kiernan and I met Kairo two days after that,” Nadia detailed.
