Rapper Nashawn Breedlove’s cause of death confirmed

Nashawn Breedlove’s cause of death has been confirmed after the 8 Mile star and rapper died at the age of 46. The star was known for his role in the Eminem-hit movie and passed away in September. It’s now been confirmed he died from acute intoxication from fentanyl, acetyl fentanyl, cocaine, and ethanol.

According to the autopsy reports from the New Jersey Medical Examiner, the overdose was accidental. Nashawn’s body was found on his bedroom floor in his apartment.

Details of the case are emerging, such as that the body was found decomposed after the police and landlord broke into the apartment unit with a crowbar. The police were called after the residents in the apartment below reported a brown fluid leaking through the ceiling.

Nashawn’s death happened in September but the details are now just emerging. It was originally reported that Nashawn died in his sleep.

He’s best known for playing Lotto in the 2002 film 8 Mile starring Eminem. His character takes on B-Rabbit, played by Slim Shady, in a rap battle. Lotto raps the lines: “I feel bad I gotta murder that dude from ‘Leave it to Beaver’,” as the crowd goes wild. Lotto ends up losing the rap battle.

Before his big break, Nashawn was rapping under the stage name OX and was featured on the 2001 soundtrack for the movie The Wash with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. His mother confirmed his death on Facebook. “Nashawn was a rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. No one could deny his talent,” she wrote.

“Nashawn’s departure from this world has left an immense void in my life, one that words cannot fully express. I can’t put into words the pain and hurt that I feel,” she added, “He was not just my son; he was a remarkable man whose character and strength inspired all who crossed his path.”

Mickey Factz, a rapper, shared a clip of Nashawn in 8 Mile. “RIP to one of the few emcee’s to beat Eminem … Lotto from 8 Mile. Who’s friends lovingly called him, OX. You will be missed for your tenacity and aggressiveness,” he wrote on Instagram.
