Sbahle Mpisane, the daughter of South African business mogul Shauwn Mkhize, has shed the label of “influencer” and “reality star” for a more profound moniker: survivor. The popular “fitness bunny” survived a near-fatal car accident in 2018 that left her in a wheelchair for about five years. Sbahle shared glimpses of her experiences following that life-threatening accident with ZiMoja.
In her words, “I have reclaimed my life, from being in a wheelchair and having no hope to now being able to catwalk, which is an inspiring story to many.
She plans to share the entire story, however, in the new season of the reality TV show, Kwa Mam’Mkhize, owned by South African socialite and her mother, Shauwn Mkhize.Commenting on the growth from season 1 to ZiMoja, she remarked, “Everyone has grown so much from season one. From our mom going through her divorce and getting her name back. To my brother being married with children. Me? I was in a wheelchair and now I am standing tall.
Andile, her brother, as she rightly said is married with children-four to be exact. From her emotion-laden statement, she seems to be adjusting favourably to the role of auxiliary mom, saying being an aunt is a heart-warming experience. “I never knew I could be more receiving and welcoming until the arrival of our babies.”
In fact, she didn’t know she was capable of a lot of things, seeing that a lot of things had changed in her life. “But there is one thing that remains the same, she clarified, “the love that we all have for one another,” she says.

“Even after my accident, when I was depressed, I did not lose love for myself and my fitness. Even when I was in a wheelchair, I still took care of myself, even though I was not happy because I didn’t want to look like my problems.”
“As someone who has been through a very dark time, I urge people to take it day by day and just appreciate the position that they are in right now and get their minds right,” she stated. She prayed that others going through tough times “find it in themselves to be strong, even though being strong is not easy,
