AmaZulu Football Club has terminated their relationship with their reserve team head coach and former Supersport United and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane. The decision comes after Yeye spent a little over a year at Usuthu.
In a statement released yesterday, Usuthu said: “Amazulu Football Club and reserve team have announced the termination of their working relationship with Reneilwe “Yeye’ Letsholonyane, who served as the head coach of the reserve team. This decision comes after a year-long stint with the club, during which Letsholonyane contributed significantly to the team’s development.” AmaZulu’ DSTV Diski Challange (DDC) team is currently in second place from bottom with only seven points after 14 matches played. They have lost 12 matches and won only two matches where they beat Moroka Swallows and TS Galaxy. Youth Technical Director Celokuhle Mbanjwa said that the team needed a change within the senior feeder team due to unsatisfactory results. “We needed to make a change with DDC ranks because of the results were not coming but we also felt we needed a new energy in a different perspective in terms of the head coach. We also reasseseds Letsholonyane’s development as a coach,” said Mbanjwa
Despite the decision to part ways with Letsholonyane, AmaZulu expressed gratitude for his contribution. “We are very happy with that he did. It’s just unfortunate that we weren’t getting results. We appreciate the input and value that he has added to the team. Under 19 Head Coach and former club coach Andile Cele will take the reins from him. Letsholonyane also thanked club President Sandile Zungu for the opportunity to head the club’s development team. “A year of experience gained, a lot of lessons were learned, new skills, things to do and not to do were also part of the lessons. Thank you to AmaZulu President Mr Sandile Zungu, Mfundo Zungu, Celo Mbanjwa and AmaZulu FC at large for trusting me to be a part of the club,” he said.
