Dynamos and Highlanders officials on Friday, 01 March held a meeting with Premier Soccer League (PSL) chairman Farai Jere after the latter recently suggested that the two club’s fans are prone to hooliganism.
Jere said the match between Bosso and Dembare dubbed, “The Battle of Zimbabwe”, at Barbourfields Stadium in the 2024 season was deliberately fixed on the opening weekend of the season to avoid disruptions to the local football calendar.
The comments did not go down well with the two clubs which then issued a joint statement saying Jere’s comments were “inflammatory” and had the potential to damage their reputation and integrity.
In a statement yesterday, the PSL said Dynamos chairman Moses Maunganidze and Highlanders chairman Rtd. Col Kenneth Mhlophe had “frank engagements” with Jere.
The meeting was chaired by the chairman of the PSL Technical and Development Committee, Masimba Chihowa. Reads the statement:
