DJ Zandimaz optimistic about recovery following brain tumour removal

DJ Zandile “Zandimaz” Mazithulela has announced a temporary hiatus from her music career to focus on recovering after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor. In an interview, Zandimaz revealed that she underwent surgery in early March following a seizure while on tour in the UK in 2022, with another seizure occurring weeks later in Zambia. Initially attributing her symptoms to fatigue, she consulted doctors who diagnosed her with a tumor.

After a year-long break, her condition worsened, leading to anxiety and nerve-related issues. This compelled her to undergo a risky seven-hour surgery, after which she spent five days in intensive care before returning home. She expressed relief that the surgery was successful and is now on the path to recovery.

The Emathandweni hitmaker explained that the tumor had severely impacted her ability to perform and record music, causing significant emotional distress and depression.

Consequently, she decided to take a prolonged break from her career, feeling unable to meet the demands of performing due to physical limitations and reduced confidence. Throughout this challenging period, Zandimaz credited her husband for providing unwavering support, describing him as her rock.
