Domestic abuse claims made against Bongani Fassie

South African musician and producer Bongani Fassie, the son of the late iconic singer Brenda Fassie, is facing serious accusations of physical abuse from his former girlfriend and ex-manager, Buhle Sangweni. The allegations, which have surfaced through an interview with Zimoja, paint a troubling picture of their relationship and Fassie’s behavior.

Sangweni, who had been romantically involved with Fassie and also served as his manager, claimed that the troubles began after Fassie met model Busisiwe “B’Queen” Siqenu. According to Sangweni, the issues started around Fassie’s birthday in August of the previous year. She revealed that she had invested significant effort into Fassie’s career, helping him secure gigs and leveraging her contacts to support him. Despite this, Sangweni alleged that Fassie’s interest shifted towards Siqenu, leading to a dramatic fallout.

“Everything was going well, we were in love, we moved in together at his estate and shared responsibilities,” Sangweni recounted. “But things took a turn when Busisiwe came into the picture. She started working for him less than a week ago, and in that time, she ruined everything. He kicked me out of the apartment and I am homeless as we speak.”

Sangweni further alleged that Fassie became violent after Siqenu reportedly promised him financial gain. “I was chased away like I never existed and humiliated. He even beat me up because of the R11 million he was promised by this new girl. She promised him sponsorships and also jumped in bed with him,” Sangweni claimed.

In her interview, Sangweni also described a pattern of physical abuse. She recounted an incident where Fassie allegedly struck her in an Uber ride, resulting in a black eye and a swollen, cracked mouth. “Every time he threw tantrums, he would kick me out of the house to sit outside in the sun. He would lock me outside until he was calm enough to let me in,” Sangweni said.

When approached for comment, Fassie denied the allegations. “I was not dating her. She is crazy and she wants to ruin my career,” he asserted, rejecting Sangweni’s claims of abuse and manipulation.

The situation has drawn significant attention, raising questions about Fassie’s behavior and the dynamics of their relationship. Sangweni’s accusations add to a growing conversation about domestic violence and the importance of supporting victims. The controversy surrounding Fassie underscores the complexities of personal and professional relationships in the public eye, particularly when allegations of abuse come to light. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how it will impact Fassie’s career and public image.
