Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, passed away on September 5, 2024, at the age of 34. The rapper, celebrated for his hit songs like “Flex” and “Type of Way,” was found unresponsive by his girlfriend, Amber Williams, who immediately called 911. The cause of his death remains undetermined, with an autopsy scheduled for September 6.

Born on October 4, 1990, in Atlanta, Georgia, Quan had a childhood marked by a deep love for literature and creative writing. In a 2014 interview with XXL magazine, he shared that he excelled in school, graduating with a 3.2 GPA and earning a baseball scholarship to Fort Valley State University. However, his potential academic and athletic career was overshadowed by his involvement in criminal activities, which led to a stint in jail.

Despite these challenges, Quan’s life took a transformative turn when he embarked on a music career in 2011. His breakthrough came with the release of his 2013 hit “Type of Way,” followed by the successful track “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” in 2015. These hits, along with his contributions to the Rich Gang collective, helped establish him as a significant figure in the hip-hop industry. By 2024, his net worth was estimated at $3.5 million, reflecting his success and impact.

Quan’s personal life included a long-term relationship with Amber Williams, with whom he shared two children. Although they were never married, the couple maintained a committed relationship, and Williams frequently posted pictures of Quan on her Instagram starting in 2015.
