Legendary Zimbabwe Warriors forward Peter Ndlovu has called on former national team captain Knowledge Musona to reconsider his international retirement. Ndlovu expressed a desire for Musona to play at least 10 more games for the Warriors and to score additional goals in an effort to surpass Ndlovu’s own record as the team’s all-time leading scorer.
Currently, Ndlovu holds the record with 38 goals in 100 caps, while Musona retired in May 2022 with 24 goals in 49 appearances. Ndlovu believes that Musona, who previously shone with clubs like Kaizer Chiefs and is now playing in Saudi Arabia, has the potential to exceed his goal tally if he returns to international duty.
In a recent response to former teammate Khama Billiat’s post on X, where Billiat thanked Ndlovu for his influence, Ndlovu remarked, “Khama, your country always needed you. Thanks for returning, boy. The confidence you instill in the team is unimaginable. We hope Knowledge can give us another 10 games so that he surpasses the record goals.”
Ndlovu’s appeal comes amid reports that new Warriors coach Michael Nees has reached out to Musona, seeking to persuade him to don the Warriors’ jersey once again. As the national team aims to strengthen its squad, the return of a seasoned player like Musona could provide a significant boost.
