The Zimbabwe High Court has again barred 23 Citizens Coalition for Change MPs and municipal councillor candidates from contesting by-elections set for 3 February.
Zimbabwe is heading for another mass parliamentary and municipal councilors by-election after the explusion of more MPs and municipal councillors who belong to the Nelson Chamisa-led party by an alleged opposition imposter.
These are the second mass parliamentary by-elections after alleged opposition imposter Sengezo Tshabangu fired Citizens Coalition for Change MPs and municipal councillors who belong to the party led by leader Nelson Chamisa. In December the High Court also barred Chamisa candidates from contesting in the first batch of by-elections.
On Friday, the Harare High Court judge Pisirayi Kwenda again ruled in favour of alleged imposter Tshabangu saying all 23 Chamisa candidates should be removed from the ballot papers.
CCC officials say they are not happy with the judgment and might appeal.
Tshabangu’s lawyer was happy with the judgment.
This latest court judgment means ruling Zanu PF, the Tshabangu faction of CCC, independents, and candidates from smaller parties will lock horns on 03 February.
