A Harare woman in her thirties is facing charges of murder after allegedly using a hoe to fatally strike her 72-year-old grandmother during a domestic argument. The incident, confirmed by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), occurred last Saturday in Granary Phase 2B, Zvimba.
According to the ZRP statement, Miriam Nyamayegore (31) was arrested on July 6, 2024, following the death of Rachel Tekenende (72) at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals. The altercation reportedly escalated, leading Nyamayegore to strike her grandmother on the head with a hoe. The motive behind the argument has not been disclosed.
In another case, police in Budiriro are seeking information to apprehend Cogitate Ganyiwa for his involvement in a double murder at a nightclub in Budiriro 1, Harare. Ganyiwa allegedly used an okapi knife to fatally stab Alec Ruvhere (22) and Tadiwanashe Murerwa (20) after an altercation sparked by a foot-stepping incident during a drinking session. A manhunt is currently underway for Ganyiwa.

Police are currently seeking Oscar Khumalo, a security guard suspected of fatally shooting his wife, Khangelani Nkiwane, on July 7, 2024, following a domestic dispute in their residence.
The tragic incident unfolded when Khumalo, armed with a pistol obtained from his workplace, reportedly threatened his wife’s life.
