DJ Fresh, whose real name is Thato Sikwane, is poised to make a comeback to the radio waves after a hiatus of four years. The popular presenter revealed his imminent return in a recent interview with Zimoja.
“I will be back in April; I can’t disclose the station yet. I’m a radio-head through and through,” he confirmed. In 2019, DJ Fresh faced controversy when he was dismissed for using the word “Msun**y” on air.
“I don’t believe I was let go because of the word,” he asserted. “My refusal to apologize for using it led to my dismissal. Initially, I was suspended for a month,” DJ Fresh explained.
He continued, “The BCCSA (Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa) ruled no breach occurred as the word does not exist. If they had demanded an immediate apology, I would have complied. But first, they punished me, and then wanted me to apologize.”
Following his departure from his previous station, DJ Fresh briefly joined 947 but faced dismissal amid a sexual assault allegation. He later cleared his name of the accusations. Now, fans eagerly await his return to the airwaves in April, marking a significant comeback for the esteemed radio personality.
