Gomora actors speak out as the show comes to an end

Another popular telenovela will soon bite the dust and its actors are sad to have lost their jobs.

Actors of Mzansi Magic’s Gomora, which recently announced it will air its final episode on 20 October after four seasons, bid farewell to fans and thanked Seriti Films for the opportunity.

One the show’s biggest stars, Sannah Mchunu, revealed that the character Zodwa was her breakthrough role.

Fans have been applauding her acting talent, saying she has carried Gomora on her shoulders.

She said being jobless is hard but thanked the production team for believing in her.

“This was my first time where I could use my creativity. The crew and the entire cast was amazing. I can promise my fans that bigger things are yet to come. Gates will open. Being unemployed is painful and hard but I trust God. He brought us this far and He will continue to take care of us. To my fans, I’d like them to know that I love them too much,” she said.

Leera Mthethwa, who played teacher Jackie Hlongwane, said it was heartbreaking to see Gomora end.

“It was my biggest TV break and it opened doors for me. I will forever cherish the times we had on set, mainly because we were not just colleagues but we became one big family. It is even more heartbreaking for me because this is where it all began. Today I’m known, I am a recognisable brand because of Gomora,” said Leera.

She said this will not be the end of her as she’s scored a role on BET’s Redemption.

“So I will survive,” she said.

Zinzi Nsele, who played teacher Zoliswa, also thanked the production company and her fans.

“I got to show South Africa that I am a Mpondo by using phrases that we use in Bizana, which is my home town. I enjoyed every moment on set. Colleagues became family,” she said.
