Khuli Chana reportedly owes the SA Revenue Service over R1.1- million in unpaid taxes. According to Sunday World, SARS applied for judgment against the Hape le Hape hitmaker in the high court in Johannesburg last week.
The rapper’s company, Khuli Chana Holdings, owes the revenue service more than R426 000 for value-added tax (VAT), however, the quantum has since ballooned to over R615 000. This after R30 000 in penalties and over R160 000 interests were added to his company’s debt. Chana also owes the taxman over R30 000 in unpaid pay as you earn (PAYE).
The amount skyrocketed to more than R445 000 after SARS imposed R11 000 penalties and over R135 000 interest on the Prada hitmaker’s debt.
Khuli also owes the taxman a total of just under R19 000 in unemployment insurance fund (UIF).
This after the musician’s original (UIF) debt of more than R11 000 incurred close to R6 000 interest and over R1 000 in penalties.
Chana’s skill development levy books were found to be in shambles, meaning he also owes SARS an additional R1 500.
In total, read the court papers, Khuli Chana owes the taxman more than R1 113 385. However, the rap star is yet to address the reports about this huge debt.
