Legendary musician Mukudzei Mukombe, better known as Jah Prayzah in the music circles, tomorrow headlines the Roman Catholic St Ignatian Feast concert set for Old Hararians Sports Club in Harare.
The fundraising concert is the brainchild of the Jesuit Province of Southern Africa and proceeds from the event will go to St Paul’s Musami Hospital. Established in 1961, St Paul’s Musami Hospital located about 73 km southeast of Harare in Murehwa district is a 150-bed healthcare facility serving mostly the rural population of Murehwa.
JesCom spokesperson Kudakwashe Matambo told NewsDay Life & Style that engaging in philanthropic work requires financial backing, hence the decision to organize a concert Jah Prayzah.
“The reason we are curating the second edition of The St Ignatian Feast concert headlined by Jah Prayzah is to merge philanthropy and music,” he said.
“It is all hands on deck and we are calling all music lovers to come and attend this concert, enjoy the music, and make a difference. We are also accepting donations via a payment platform through the following link https://jescom.org.zw/donate/,”
The medical superintendent at St Paul’s Musami Hospital Chris Chivhinge said from the fundraising initiative they hope to at least be able to diversify further the services that they are offering.
“We need an autoclaving machine so that we will be able to sterilize our equipment for theatre,” he noted. We are also in need of a laundry machine so that we keep our line clean. We are short of rehabilitation equipment. We would like to thank everyone who supports us in cash or kind.”
Chivinge said the hospital also requires state-of-the-art equipment such as resuscitation equipment, dental and Digital x-ray machines, and a new ambulance among other operational needs.
At the concert, the Kutonga Kwaro hitmaker will share the stage with some of the Catholic choral groups such as ROMAC, Humbled Voices, and Deo Gracias.
Other performances will be from Dj Smith, Fr Mobie Musakatiza, and The Unveiled.
The show’s advanced ordinary tickets are selling at US$5 while at the gate fans would fork out US$10. VIP tickets are going for US$35.

On the inaugural day of an operation aimed at addressing “roadway lawlessness,” law enforcement took into custody almost 2,000 motorists. This nationwide inter-agency initiative, which runs from September 12 to 16, has seen the deployment of police roadblocks across the country, as revealed by national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Wednesday.
Nyathi stated, “The prevalence of road misconduct, particularly in major urban areas, has escalated to a disturbing and intolerable degree.
