Masechaba Khumalo says she was a virgin when Jub Jub ‘raped’ her

Former Metro FM presenter Masechaba Khumalo has given the police details of what happened on the day Jub Jub allegedly raped her when she was a virgin. Khumalo said she dated Jub Jub, real name Molemo Maarohanye, at the age 16 when she was a pupil at Mondeor High School between 1999 and 2000.

She said Maarohanye invited her to his parental home in Naturena, south of Joburg, to watch a movie.
On arrival at his home, she exchanged pleasantries with Maarohanye’s parents, who were on their way out.

She said she and the Uyajola 9/9 presenter laid down on the floor of the living room under a blanket, eating popcorn while watching the flicks.

She alledged they started canoodling and later moved to a bedroom. This, she said after Maarohanye, said they should move there because he did not want his mother to stumble upon them drinking from each other’s lips.

“However, as soon as we got into the bedroom, things started to intensify, Molemo knew I was a virgin,” reads the statement.

She said as she was lying on the bed with him, he allegedly aggressively pinned her down and climbed on top of her. She said she tried to push him off with her knees and legs, in a bid to break free. She said after failing to do so, Maarohanye allegedly raped her.

“After that I got up and put my clothes on and left immediately,” she said.
Maarohanye, said Khumalo, phoned her and asked her if she had heard of morning-after pills, which are meant to prevent pregnancy.

She said after he explained how they worked, he instructed her to go to the pharmacy and buy them and she did so because she did not want to get into trouble with her mother, whom she had already lied to about her whereabouts on the day of the alleged rape.

Khumalo said after the alleged incident, she suffered from depression and anxiety. She said despite being raped, she did not tell her parents and her friends, who noticed her strange behaviour.

She only told them about the alleged rape after Maarohanye announced on Podcast and Chill with MacG that he had “smashed” her.
