Speaking to the podcasters, Mncube shared that at the time he was shooting eHostela; which also aired on the DStv channel.

“I quickly went to my trailer because I wanted to get myself water. And while I was there, I got a call from her number. I knew she was in hospital. When I answered the phone, her little sister was on the other side, crying. Automatically, I just knew what had happened. I just broke down. I was with Thobani Nzuza, who played Mndeni on the show, and he was confused and asked why I was crying. I told him what was happening,” Mncube said.

Unfortunately, he could not immediately leave as he had to go back to set.

“I had to gather myself and go back. And when I watched that scene back, I did so well. It didn’t show that I was going through something,” the actor explained.
