Zodwa Wabantu confirms boxing match with Khanyi Mbau

Popular South African dancer and socialite, Zodwa Wabantu has confirmed that she will be stepping into the boxing ring with South Africa’s Queen of Bling, actress, and reality TV star Khanyi Mbau via an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, 4 October.

The media personalities will allegedly be exchanging leather at the Ridge Hotel in Mpumalanga on 22 October in the first-ever female celebrity exhibition boxing match-up in the African continent, SowetanLIVE reported. According to the publication, promoter, Arnold ‘Squire’ Nododile said that such fights have become part and parcels of the evolution of boxing around the globe.

Zodwa Wabantu took to her popular Instagram page on Wednesday and said she was looking forward to stepping in the ring with Khanyi Mbau. “It’s been a long time coming. I can’t wait to set my foot on the ring. Infinity International boxing has made it possible,” she wrote on her feed.

Tickets are already available at computicket. Attendees are expected to pay R250 for general tickets, R400 for ringside tickets, and R1000 for VIP tickets.

Attendees can also expect to see other female opponents competing for the belt. Mapule Ngubane from South Africa will step in the ring with Charity Mukami Mujwiri who hails from Kenya. South Africa’s Sazisiwe Simon will fight against Pamela Matunga, from Zimbabwe. And, Matshidiso Mokatsane from the Free State will be exchanging leather with Monalisa Takane who comes from the Eastern Cape, and lastly, Asanda Simelane from North West will go head-to-head with Nomfundo Xaba from KwaZulu-Natal.
