Wayne Brady was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with another driver after his car was allegedly hit on Sunday night by a man later charged with DUI. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department confirmed to PEOPLE that a traffic accident occurred involving two drivers — the Let’s Make a Deal host and a 51-year-old male — on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California.

Following the incident, PEOPLE has learned the drivers allegedly got into an intense argument that turned physical when they pulled over to exchange information.

“Wayne is so upset about this incident with a drunk driver. As a father, he was just thankful it was not his daughter or anyone’s child dealing with this,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He kept thinking what if it was his daughter.”Brady, 51, called 911. The comedian did not need to be taken to the hospital following the fight.

Authorities tell PEOPLE the other driver was arrested for hit and run, battery and DUI. The source confirmed Brady filed battery charges against the other driver. TMZ was first to report the news of the incident.

Brady shares daughter Maile, 20, with ex-wife Mandie Taketa, to whom he was married from 1999 to 2008. In September 2021, the Whose Line Is It Anyway? star expanded his co-parenting duties when Mandie welcomed son Sundance-Isamu via adoption with her boyfriend Jason Fordham.

This past July, Brady and Taketa announced that their production company, A Wayne & Mandie Creative, had would be producing an eight-episode unscripted series for Hulu.

According to Variety, the reality show will give viewers a glimpse into Brady’s life as an entertainer and co-parent with his “ex-wife, soulmate and business partner” as they navigate daily life as a blended family.
