Saintfloew addresses beef and drug addiction – ‘Holy Ten didn’t make me’

Rapper Saintfloew has made headlines recently, not only for his music but also for his candid remarks regarding his rivalry with fellow artist Holy Ten. In a revealing interview with DJ Ollah on his podcast, Saintfloew clarified misconceptions about their relationship, asserting that he was not discovered by Holy Ten but had sought him out for collaboration before their partnership deteriorated into a feud.

The rivalry between the two artists has been the subject of much speculation in the music scene. Holy Ten has accused Saintfloew of turning against him despite the opportunities he provided, describing it as “biting the hand that fed him.” However, Saintfloew has a different narrative. He explained that their initial meeting was not a case of Holy Ten lifting him from obscurity. Instead, it was Saintfloew who reached out to Holy Ten after recognizing the potential for collaboration.

“We met up and did the feature, and then he said, ‘Young man, come through to the studio.’ This is not because I didn’t have a studio to record in; I already had material that showed I could produce quality work,” Saintfloew stated. He emphasized that he was proactive in seeking out Holy Ten, which contradicts the narrative that he was a struggling artist who needed help.

“Holy Ten didn’t make me. He is not someone who found me hungry. No. I was the one who looked for him before he looked for me. I am the one who took my project to him and said, ‘Listen to this, and maybe we can do a feature.’ I didn’t suggest that we eat and live together,” he asserted, clearly frustrated with the misrepresentation of their professional relationship.

Saintfloew also noted that Holy Ten began to take an interest in him once he recognized the quality of Saintfloew’s music. “He was doing features, and I said, ‘If you can put your verse on that item, it would be 100 percent flames.’ However, when I sent it, it was already 100 percent flames,” he explained. This shift in dynamics, according to Saintfloew, contributed to the eventual fallout between them.

Beyond his professional challenges, Saintfloew opened up about his personal struggles, particularly his battle with drug abuse. He recalled a difficult period in his life when he found himself at odds with his mother, who expressed concern over his changing behavior. “I couldn’t even get along with my mother anymore. She would tell me, ‘You’re no longer the child that I raised.’ Ever since I started doing drugs, I didn’t feel like I was myself anymore,” he shared.

Saintfloew described the impact of drug use on his self-perception, stating, “There’s a normal person’s ego, but when you take drugs, it feels as if you have topped up on that.” His reflections highlight the profound influence of his upbringing and environment on his choices.

However, in a transformative turn, Saintfloew revealed that checking into a rehab center in South Africa played a crucial role in his recovery. “Rehab is helpful. It’s a new thing, a place where you go to when you’re being removed from places that make you attracted to drugs. You get to learn and speak with other addicts a lot,” he explained.

He emphasized the importance of community in recovery, stating, “We would sit down in groups and talk about the problems that have pushed you towards drugs, from your childhood onwards.” This communal aspect of rehab provided him with insights and support, allowing him to reconnect with himself and regain control over his life.

Saintfloew’s journey from rivalry and personal turmoil to recovery serves as an inspiring narrative for many. His openness about his struggles and the dynamics within the music industry sheds light on the complexities artists face. As he continues to navigate his career and personal life, his story resonates with those grappling with similar issues, reinforcing the message that seeking help and finding one’s voice are crucial steps in the path to healing and success.
