South African actress Mbalenhle Mavimbela recently bid farewell to the Showmax hit telenovela The Wife. Her departure comes after the exit of fan favorites including Bonko Khoza, Abdul Khoza, and Zikhona Sodlaka in earlier episodes of the third season.
Mbalenhle played the star of the show Hlomu. Mavimbela had been with the show since its inception, but her journey has sadly come to an end. She took to her Instagram page last week to share a video of her last moments on set.
In her farewell video, Mbalenhle can be seen surrounded by the cast and crew while carrying a bouquet of flowers.
“It’s a picture wrap for uMahlomu. I walked into this production a young lady and left as a wise woman. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and has been a part of my journey from the very beginning.
Mavimbela also voiced her gratitude to Showmax, Stained Glass, and DSTV for the opportunity.
“A HUGE thank you to @showmaxonline, @stainedglasstv1, and @dstvza for this amazing opportunity. Last, a special thank you to the 5 AM gang for sticking with me through all the seasons.”
The actress has been taking the time off to refocus and make sure she’s in the best mental state before taking her next big project. She has been basking in the lap of luxury in Zimbali.
Mbalenhle Mavimbela was a recent guest on Kaya 959 Breakfast with hosts Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka.
The actress spoke about her career, acting in the Wife, and a whole lot more. She shared that she is close to becoming a Millionaire.
“We are talking about being a millionaire. Have you made your first million?” asked Dineo to the new mom.
She responded: “I still have a chance to become a millionaire, I haven’t made my first million, maybe next year. I think I am very close.”
Sol Phenduka commented, “Good, I am sure the show is paying max there by The Wife.”
Mbalenhle added: “I made sure that I hung out with the drama students because I didn’t have the funds to study film and television.”
A wealthy businessman was said to be her baby daddy but he denied this but confirmed she had a baby but with a male celebrity.
According to a report by City Press, he denied being the father.
“Yes, she had a baby, but I am not the father. The father is well known, but I am not the father. The father is in the [entertainment] industry as well. He is a celebrity. She is a friend of mine.”
“I am not a celebrity, and I would not want things like this written about me. I just called her after we spoke earlier to ask her if she knows why people are saying I am the father of her child … She is currently in hospital with the baby, and they are both fine. Everyone in the industry knows her boyfriend. I am just a friend,” the businessman alleged.
