Lion King producer Lebo M abuses me – Pretty Samuels speaks out

Lion king producer Lebogang “Lebo M” Morake has been accused by his wife Pretty Samuels of abusive behaviour. The abuse allegations are contained in the application for a protection order she filed against Morake at the Randburg magistrate’s court last month.

The protection order must decree that Morake should not commit or attempt to commit emotional, verbal and psychological abuse against her. It must also prohibit him from intimidating and committing economic abuse against her. Morake, said the application, must also refrain from intimidating and threatening his wife.

“[He should also refrain] from degrading behaviour, offensive behaviour and humiliating behaviour,” reads the application. The injunction should also bar Morake from preventing his wife from entering their residential property.

In two different sworn affidavits, Samuels detailed how she and her relatives were abused by the internationally renowned musician on two different
occasions.

She said she left for Kwa-Zulu-Natal on July 31 to see her family and to talk to her mother regarding her stressful marital issues. Before she left, she said, Morake told her to vacate their rented home in Waterfall Estate, north of Joburg, and also blocked her access to the gated estate. This after they differed over work and domestic-related issues.

“While with my family in KwaZulu-Natal, I received a communication from the complex manager. He told me that my husband had ordered him to cancel my access to the complex with immediate effect. I wrote back to him and told him that he has no right to take me out of my home and that he should not follow my husband’s instructions.
When I came back from KwaZulu-Natal, he only allowed me to take a few of my clothes under the watchful eye of a domestic worker, like a thief,” reads the application.

Samuels said she went back to her home province to ask her 77-year-old mother and uncles to intervene and when they tried to engage Morake, he treated them with disrespect and bullying attitude.

“He still continues to use the media to bully me, spread fake news to assassinate my reputation,” reads the application. She asked the court to attend to her application urgently because she did not have a place to sleep as Morake kicked her to the kerb.

Samuels said she had been sleeping at her friend’s home and wanted to go home because even though she had some differences with Morake, he would not harm her because he was not a violent person. Besides that, she said, she and Morake were in the middle of shooting a documentary in which she is a main character.

“The house in question is a rented house paid for by Prime Media, and my husband is just the main registered tenant,” reads the application.

Samuels said Morake had also blocked her access to her Cedar apartment, which she said she had spent hundreds of thousands of rands on renovations and furniture.

“I’m advised it is an act of domestic violence for my husband to kick me out of the house like this and am asking for the court to protect me from the abuse I am suffering,” reads the application. Morake, who said he will oppose the application, will appear in court next month to challenge the order.
