Chamisa Denies PhD Rumours

Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president Nelson Chamisa has dismissed recent circulating claims that he has quit politics to pursue studies in the United States, branding them “sideshows and lies” designed to distract the nation.

In a firm statement published on his WhatsApp news platform, The Chamisa News Channel, Chamisa reaffirmed his commitment to active political participation and national development. He described the rumours as a deliberate attempt by his detractors to sow confusion among his supporters and weaken his political standing.

“Fellow Citizens, ignore the sideshows, lies and falsehoods being circulated by our opposition. Stay focused. I’m fully aware of the huge responsibility and heavy burden upon my shoulders. And I will never let you down or fall short,” Chamisa wrote on Sunday.

He went further, urging his followers to see beyond the noise and to maintain unity and trust. “Bear in mind that not all strategic decisions are shared openly or with the opposite team. Information is a strategic resource never to be shared recklessly. As for you who believe and support; worry not, fear not, doubt not and more importantly, be confused not,” he added.

For Chamisa, the clarion call was clear: he remains steadfast in his vision for Zimbabwe’s transformation. “Be clear and of good cheer. You will soon appreciate the wisdom of my ways. Victory and success never come cheap. Every action I take, every decision I make, is focused on achieving our great and glorious future for Zimbabwe,” he stated.

The veteran politician emphasised that his focus remains firmly on building the foundation for a better Zimbabwe and preparing for the nation’s future political developments. “My hands are on the deck, my eyes on the vision and mission. The struggle continues, and I remain steadfast, fully committed to the work that cannot pause for idle distractions,” Chamisa said.

Although Chamisa has stepped aside from the CCC presidency, reports suggest he is quietly laying the groundwork for a new political movement — one that is expected to serve as his platform for the 2028 elections. While he has avoided commenting on Zanu-PF’s ongoing internal succession battles, his words suggest a deliberate strategy aimed at consolidating his base and defining a longer-term vision for Zimbabwe.

Chamisa’s denial comes amid growing speculation on social media and in political circles about his next moves. Some critics have accused him of political inaction since leaving the CCC presidency, questioning whether he still holds the resolve to lead a national movement. Chamisa responded to such criticism with resolve, stressing that his approach is strategic and long-term rather than reactive.

Chamisa Dismisses Claims of Political Exit, Vows Continued Engagement in Zimbabwe’s Future

He attributed the spread of the rumours to unnamed political adversaries he claims have sought to pressure him into revealing his strategic plans nearly two years after stepping down. “These narratives are attempts to weaken our unity and distract us from our collective mission,” Chamisa said.

The former CCC leader expressed confidence that his political journey remains deeply rooted in a vision of national transformation, built on unity, empowerment, and opportunity. He stressed that Zimbabweans should not be swayed by short-term conjecture but remain focused on the larger cause.

“My focus remains unwavering. The future of our country is not a momentary matter; it is a mission. We are laying the groundwork for sustained change. We are preparing for victory, and victory will not come without patience, strategy, and resilience,” Chamisa said.

He urged his supporters to remain steadfast, highlighting that the path to meaningful change often comes with challenges and attempts at misdirection. “We must not allow ourselves to be distracted. We must not fall prey to rumours. Our eyes should remain on the prize — a Zimbabwe where opportunity, justice, and prosperity belong to every citizen,” he stated.

Political analysts say Chamisa’s statement is both a reassurance to his supporters and a clear signal to political rivals that he is still very much in the game. By emphasising the need for patience and strategy, Chamisa appears to be signalling that his next moves will be calculated and deliberate, aimed at positioning himself as a central figure in Zimbabwe’s political future.

For now, Chamisa insists, his commitment to politics and national service remains absolute. “I stand with my people, shoulder to shoulder, in pursuit of the Zimbabwe we deserve. The struggle continues, and I remain in it for the long haul,” he concluded.

Whether Chamisa’s supporters will accept his assurances and whether his new political strategy will reshape the opposition landscape remain questions that will define Zimbabwe’s political discourse in the months and years ahead.
