KUWADZANA- A devastated family from Kuwadzana Extension is preparing to leave their home following the tragic deaths of their two young children, saying they can no longer endure the painful memories that haunt the place where the incident unfolded.
The Muzanago family lost their beloved daughters, Anopaishe and Anenyasha, under deeply distressing circumstances. The children, who had gone missing, were later found lifeless inside a vehicle parked near their home. Weeks after the heartbreaking discovery, the car remains stationed there—a haunting reminder of their unimaginable loss and grief.
Speaking in a sorrow-filled tone, the children’s father, Anymore Muzanago, described the unbearable pain of living so close to the scene of tragedy. He said every day is a struggle, as the sight of the vehicle constantly reopens fresh wounds that have yet to begin healing.
“We are still grappling with the reality of our children’s deaths,” Muzanago said quietly. “Seeing the vehicle involved and passing by the spot where it all happened is too painful. The owner of the vehicle has not removed it, and as long as it remains there, our hearts cannot start to heal.”
The grieving father added that his family’s attempts to move forward are being hindered by the emotional weight of their surroundings. The memory of the tragedy, frozen in time outside their doorstep, has made staying in their home unbearable. The family has therefore resolved to relocate permanently, hoping that a change of environment will allow them to slowly rebuild their lives.
“We can’t find peace here. Every time we look outside, we are reminded of our daughters. It’s as if they are still there, calling out to us. We just need to leave,” he said.
Adding to the family’s distress is confusion surrounding the financial donations reportedly raised by members of the public and well-wishers to assist them during their mourning period. Despite reports of community fundraising efforts, Muzanago said they have yet to receive any of the money that was allegedly collected in their name.
“No cash has been handed to us,” he said firmly. “We were in deep shock and grief, and we didn’t have the strength to follow up on who was collecting what. To this day, we have not received any money that was supposedly donated to us. If people gave funds to our relatives or others on our behalf, we haven’t seen a single cent.”
Kuwadzana Family Plans to Relocate After Tragic Loss of Two Children
The uncertainty has only worsened the family’s sense of isolation, leaving them feeling abandoned during one of the most painful moments of their lives.
Despite this, the Muzanago family expressed gratitude for the non-monetary support they have received from kind-hearted individuals and organisations. Muzanago said they were especially thankful to Nyaradzo Funeral Services, which assisted with funeral logistics, as well as to various community members who brought groceries and offered emotional support.
“We appreciate those who came to comfort us, those who provided food, and those who stood by us during this terrible time. Even small gestures of kindness have meant a lot,” he said.
Local philanthropist Betty Kaseke also weighed in on the matter, clarifying the confusion surrounding the collected funds. She confirmed that she has indeed been receiving contributions meant for the grieving family but said the formal handover has not yet taken place.
“Yes, I have been collecting donations from well-wishers to support the Muzanago family,” Kaseke said. “However, I am still waiting for them to return to their home in Kuwadzana Extension before handing over the funds. They are currently in their rural area, where they went to bury their children and recover emotionally.”
Kaseke added that she remains in contact with the family and intends to ensure that all donations reach them once they are settled back home.
Meanwhile, police and medical officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths. A pathologist’s report is expected to shed more light on what exactly led to the children’s passing. Early indications, however, suggest that foul play might not have been involved, though final conclusions will depend on official results.
As the community awaits further details, neighbours have continued to visit and comfort the grieving parents. Many say the tragedy has cast a shadow of sorrow across Kuwadzana Extension, reminding residents of the fragility of life and the need for unity in times of loss.
For the Muzanago family in Kuwadzana, however, true peace remains distant. Their home, once filled with laughter and joy, now stands as a painful monument to what they have lost. With each passing day, the sight of the abandoned car outside reinforces their grief.
“Our daughters were our world,” said Muzanago, his voice breaking. “We will carry their memory with us wherever we go—but we cannot heal here. This place will always remind us of what was taken from us.”
As they prepare to leave Kuwadzana, the family’s heartbreaking story has become a call for compassion—and a stark reminder that behind every tragedy lies a community’s shared responsibility to care for the broken-hearted.
