DJ Sumbody was born on the 9th of June in the late 70s or early 80s in Pretoria to Mr and Mrs Sefoka. It is unclear how many siblings he had but he had a younger sister called Chantel Sefoka.

After high school, DJ Sumbody joined the Tshwane University of Technology but dropped out during his second year to pursue his passion as a disc jockey.

After dropping out of college, DJ Sumbody started off as a volunteer producer and presenter on Mashaedi on the Engage, a radio show on a popular Tshwane FM 93.6 before releasing his debut house mix- Larger than House Volume 1.

One of the peaks in his career was his hit Monate Mpolaye. The track has over 3 million views on YouTube and went platinum three times.

During his memorial service, DJ Sumbody’s wife identified as Tlotlo was one of the people who paid their tributes to the slain producer.

“A letter to my heart. I lay here so consumed with heartbreak and pain. I’m overwhelmed with so much emotions because there were so many things we had planned. I’m truly grateful for the time we spent together. ” DJ Sumbody’s partner said in part of her tribute.

DJ Sumbody’s death and funeral

DJ Sumbody was shot dead in his car together with his driver in the early morning of Sunday the 20th of November 2022 on Woodmead road, Johannesburg while on his way to a gig.

A memorial service was held in his honor on the 23rd of November 2022 in Lewende Woord church in Centurion, Gauteng.
