South African rapper J Molley has shocked fans by announcing his departure from the music scene. The decision comes shortly after he withdrew from a joint EP project with Emtee.
In a candid statement, J Molley cited frustration with Emtee’s lack of commitment to their music collaboration despite significant investments. He recounted instances where Emtee appeared incapacitated during studio sessions, unable to perform even basic tasks like putting on his shoes or delivering coherent rap verses.
“For the last three sessions with me, I’ve footed all the bills, from transport to studio time, even buying them KFC and lean,” J Molley explained, highlighting Emtee’s struggle with substance abuse. “Whether he’s asleep or causing drama on social media, that’s his routine.”
On Tuesday, J Molley took to Instagram to announce the release of what he termed his final project, titled “Head Hunter.” He expressed disillusionment with the fame associated with music and revealed plans to deactivate his social media account within 24 hours.
“Head Hunter Tape Out Now (Link In My Bio). This The Last Body Of Work I’m Giving Y’all Since I’ve Decided To Quit. Enjoy, Share & Save The Link. Deactivating My Account In 24 Hours 🔪 Y’all Can Keep This Fame Shit, I Don’t Want it. I Make Money, Music A Hobby To Me,” he wrote.
J Molley’s abrupt departure marks a significant shift in his career, as he looks towards other avenues for income beyond music.
